    There are many factors to consider when taking this course of action. Consolidation just means borrowing more money to pay what you owe. Counseling agencies (including those so called not-for-profit ones) can help but your creditors do not have to accept their offers and the agencies will make you close the charge accounts.

    Here is a web site to read more about them;

    Here is a link to find a qualified and recognized counseling agency recommended by the FTC.

    Govt approved credit counseling agencies.

    Hope this answers your question

    Some may charge ,some may not. I’ll look for one that doesn’t one second :)

    I have heard from financial advisers not to use debt consolidation programs. I honestly have no information to share on them. Feed the Pig has a great calculator tool to predict and plan to eliminate debt. Dave Ramsey is also very helpful with information regarding getting out of debt.

    Good luck to you.

    There are not-for-profit debt consolidation companies available for the public. Now, using them may be helpful, but it can lower your credit scare, but that looks better than simply not paying the debt at all and you will be able to get your credit score to come back up.
